Chiropractic For Your Heart

What does chiropractic care has to do with your heart health?

Your heart is a strong muscle located on the left side of the middle of your chest and is about the size of your fist. Your heart is the key organ in the circulatory system where blood is moving from the heart which delivers oxygen and nutrients to every part of the body. Just like an engine makes a car go, the heart keeps your blood pumping and we have to keep it healthy and beating as best we can.

Did you know?

Are you at risk for heart disease or high blood pressure? Did you guys know that heart disease is the number one killer of men and women in the United States?

We already know that having a healthy diet along with exercise are key factors in preventing heart disease ... but did you know that Chiropractic Care can also be an effective way in keeping your heart healthy?

Here are a few potential symptoms of Heart condition symptoms:

  •     Chest discomfort, tightness or pressure
  •     Nausea, indigestion, heartburn, or stomach pain
  •     Pain that spreads to the arm
  •     Feeling dizzy or light headed
  •     Throat or jaw pain
  •     You may get exhausted easily
  •     Snoring
  •     Sweating
  •     A cough that won't quit
  •     Legs, feet, and ankles are swollen
  •     Irregular heart beat

Two important nerves: Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Nerves

There are two important nerves that can cause your heart rate to either speed up or slow down. Your sympathetic nerves can cause your heart to accelerate and originate from the thoracic spine in your upper back. The nerves that can cause your heart rate to slow down are called parasympathetic nerves which originate from the brain itself. These nerves pass close to the upper cervical vertebrae and your neck on their way to your heart.

When there's a misalignment, stress, or injury to the spine it can than cause an interruption on these nerves innervating the heart. This area of misalignment is called a vertebral subluxation. If there's a subluxation an adjustment to the spine is made to restore proper alignment. When the spine is free of subluxations, the body can return to heal itself on it's own affecting every muscle, nerve, tissue, and most importantly the heart!

Lets Wrap this up!

Regular Chiropractic adjustments can help keep the heart working at optimal efficiency, help maintain normal blood pressure, reduce heart rate, relieve chest pain and help support overall heart health which is all great news ... but it can also help with chronic back pain, neck pain, and headaches ... How great is that?
